Jamis Nova Question
I have a 2007 Jamis Nova i bought used. There is a slight bend on inside of the drive side seat stay just above the drop out. I have never noticed it before. Is this a serious issue or maybe it is designed to be that way? Thanks for the help

Might help if you post some pictures of it.

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...=54015&page=58 post #1434, see if you can get an idea from that, otherwise post a pic of what you're looking for specifically and I'll snap one for you.

No help at all. Need a closeup picture of the area without the chain stay protector.

You're going to like this... It's normal. I have a brand new 2008 Aurora Elite (same exact frame as the 2007 Novas) and after seeing your pics, took a look at mine and same exact thing. Don't ask me why it's there, but it is. You should ask Jamis. they are really helpful and quick to respond.

Chemist88,
Definitely never noticed that before and I've had the wheel off a few times. Sorry I couldn't get in closer for a better pic as the rack interferes.
Edit: As far as it's purpose, I'm guessing it would be to clear a larger cassette?
Edit2: Have your wheels been upgraded? If not I'm wondering if they didn't change wheels halfway through the production year as I've seen Ritchey rims and silver hubs on some factory pics (not sure what brand) and a few including mine with black AClass hubs and rims.

Looks like it's to get the drop out straight. That's the great thing about a steel frame.

I freaked out a little when i first noticed it. Good to hear it's normal. It came with the Aclass wheels, but i was nervous on the lower spoke count. I recently bought 32 hole CXP33 rims with ultegra hubs, and so far i really like them. Have you had any problems with the bottom bracket clicking?

At about 50.0 miles I did. As it's still under warranty from the shop I got it at, they pulled the bottom bracket apart and greased everything. No issues at 100 miles thus far. They eluded to the fact that it's a common issue. I'm guessing it might be the fact that it's a factory assembly so who knows how well it's really greased or tightened down. I really love this bike, I work a lot so I don't get to ride nearly as much as I want. I'd prefer that 100 miles to be 1000. So are you a chemist as your name implies?
