This sub needs one.
1997 Raleigh R700. Even with the massive rims it's superlight. The wheelset is surprisingly light when you pick them up. The tubing is Easton Elan. I've seen only one other bike with it, also a '97. I think that was a one year deal where they made bike tubes with it, it's popular for golf clubs. I'm planning on sending the hubs to PWB and have them re-laced with black Kinlin TB 20 tubular rims/DT Comp's. I already have some 23mm tanwall Challenge Elite pro tires for it, I think that will look sharp.

Pinarello Montello. Originally (assumed) DA 740x. It had a mixture of 7400,to 7402 parts. I don't know why. Here is a pic of what it was with the DA on it.

I considered getting the brifters for it but I couldn't find any at a decent price that looked acceptable. Apparently most owners fall down. In addition, I don't like the cable coming out the side of the levers.
Hey it is an Italian bike so a conversion to Campagnolo was in order. I started collecting parts after finding a pair of decent Eropowers for a decent price. Then the crank, etc.

In the mean time, to keep it in riding condition, a set of spacers from Wheel Mfg for the DA cassette was procured.

It shifts great, no difference than the DA set up. In the process of spacing the cassette, I found the cones were pitted in the DA hub. Another reason to switch.
Now I want to shift, pun intended, to a triple and need a medium cage to get there.

1994-ish Pinarello Gavia
This Pinarello Gavia probably had 8 speed Ergo levers originally. She currently features 2x10 Veloce Ergo levers and derailleurs with Chorus brakes and crankset. The tubing is Columbus TSX and the geometry is very aggressive.

My 3x9 2006 Cannondale Synapse. it had Tiagra levers and 105 derailleurs. Now a full 105 2x11 bike.

1993-ish Simoncini Cylocross Special
Another Columbus Steel Italian, this one is CROMOR. The Simoncini Cyclocross Special has an ovalized top tube with rear derailleur and brake cables along the top of the top tube for easy portage. The down tube lacks any shifter bosses but has a cable housing stop for the front derailleur cable. Currently with 2x10 Campagnolo carbon Chorus derailleurs & Ergo levers and a Campagnolo carbon compact crankset. The 700x32 Stampede Pass tires are silky smooth performers and the ride is fast and very comfortable.

My 1995(?) Serotta Atlanta with Shimano 600 Tricolor, in front of the LBS where I bought it. Freewheel Cycles in Nashua NH I like blue.

I had that exact same Serotta Atlanta frameset, same color. I bought it in '98 and built it up with DA 7700. The wheelset was White Industries Speed Racer hubs and blue anodized Mavic Reflex tubular rims. I'd give anything if I could have that bike back.

Serotta is a magician with steel, no way should a steel bike with tubes that big be that light.

I've always had a strong desire for later steel bikes built with Columbus SLX, SPX and TSX. Not only do these bike have excellent top-of-the-line frames but the components were better than lower range models. Starting in 1985 more and more bikes came with indexed shifting and 53/39 chainrings, a big improvement over prior drivetrains.

This isn't mine, it's for sale and I've been trying to hold off because I have too many bikes. Yeah it's 10 speed but it's a 2000, Campy came out with 10 speed that year. Triple butted aluminum and steel fork. I had a Daytona group back in the day and it's one of the best I've owned. If it's still for sale this weekend I may have to give in.

My Calfee Tetra started out as a 9sp Ergo triple on a semi-custom frame with only a small geo modification from standard.
I think this is the only pic of original build, with the designer & CF master.

Will look for a build in the middle.
Ahhhh, Calfee after repaint + 2nd threaded fork, converted triple in favor of compact double at this build.

Here’s a pic of newest build.
Went 1” threadless full carbon fork+headset, Deda stem, short shallow bars, Ergo 10, skeleton brakes, tubular wheelset ( or clincher ).
It did get a factory repaint (before leaving Santa Cruz) that came out a bit lighter, and the decals got (mistakenly) white.

Frame/fork made in Italy, but painted and assembled in USA, if I am not mistaken. After 15 years of riding a steel touring bike with 27" wheels, it was too stiff for my liking initially. That changed over time, and stuck.
