operator 10-11-04 01:25 PM

Ok, I want to organize at least a "unofficial ride" before we get to winter. You guys in for that? It might just be the us 3. I did the Friday night route with the TBN and we can reconnoiteur that. This Friday?

Shiznaz 10-11-04 02:49 PM

When does this night ride start? I have class from 2-5 on fridays

skyelo 10-12-04 07:23 AM

Shiznaz 10-12-04 01:12 PM

I'm going to be at the bike show early, soon after it opens at 10am. I have to meet some classmates later on at 12:30 for a group presentation meeting, so I thought I'd go to the show before, when theres more stuff and the people in the booths are slightly more excited.

They'd actually get in a bike they don't normally distribute? I've been looking for a sturdy touring bike and sent a note off to Bicycling Magazine. The January issue will have a "What kind of bike should I buy" on me. :D They had suggested the Gunnar Rock Tour and as far as I can tell only Ideal distributes them. After going to the Bike Show today (bought a tire for the trainer and a pair of Pearl Izumi AmFIB Lobster Gloves) and then off to Duke's to test a Cannondale T2000, which -- even as a small -- was too tall). Sigh....

I guess custom will be my option... I hate being short. :(

operator 10-16-04 03:38 PM

Hmm. What times are good for you guys?

Shiznaz 10-16-04 05:05 PM

I got a selle italia saddle, a carbon seatpost, a carbon stem and some tubes. That place was packed like crazy. There were some good deals on complete bikes though.

operator, as for ride times, the weekend is good for me, as well as monday. On tuesday and wednesday I only have class until noon. Feel like going on a ride tomorrow (sunday)? I could use the exercise, and I want to test out my new goodies.

orguasch 10-16-04 06:22 PM

I bought myself a Heiniken Jersey, at La Bicicleta booth, and for $50.00 bucks, I was looking for a winter cycling pants. didnt find one, I guess, I will have to go to MEC

orguasch 10-16-04 06:23 PM

I will be riding tomorrow, with the donut run, care to join us

Tuesday could be a winner if I can't make it tomorrow.

WorldIRC 10-16-04 09:26 PM

How was the show?

STEEKER 10-16-04 10:10 PM

Well I am short too ,, 6 foot 260 but that is small in my family :( I am to heavy for road bike frames so cyclecross frames and Mountain bike are my option,,, but just call and ask them :)....Steeker

Shiznaz 10-16-04 11:42 PM

well, let me know if you want to ride or not before like, 2-3pm

MsMittens 10-17-04 04:48 AM

How was the show?
Packed. There were some good deals there -- a student of mine got a frame, fork and a camelbak, each for about 40-50% off -- but not surprising the selection was limited. About 25-30 shops max along with a bike tour company and a custom frame/bike builder (Winterbourne).

The Spring show has a lot more selection and some deals if you look, IMO.

STEEKER 10-17-04 09:47 AM

Lobster Gloves) right on you ride in the cold weather too :D sorry but I missed it before about the gloves, mabey when the Don River freezes over you'll race : on it with us  .....Steeker

MsMittens 10-17-04 09:56 AM

you ride in the cold weather too
LOL.. I'm a bit of a weather wuss and rather sensitive to cold. I'm actually about to go out to MEC to get some Gore-Tex/cold weather pants (I have a pair but their are a few sizes too big) so I can continue commuting (at least until the first snow fall -- which might be soon based on what Calgary just got).

STEEKER 10-17-04 10:13 AM

MsMittens ;) uhmm what is MEC ,lol I am asuming a bike shop ,,, and it is not hard at all to ride in snow just take things slooow and you'll be fine plus you have most of the trails to yourself and the roads are not to bad unless you live out where I am they don't clear the streets   .....Steeker

Scooby Snax 10-17-04 11:25 AM

What is MEC...?
Mountain Equipment Co-op

Good Quality gear, prices are pretty good, but their clothing is super, not cheap but really good quality.
