Im resurrecting this thred, Trying to find out what kind of pace you / they ride on the donut run?

operator 09-04-04 02:58 PM

I ride with the TBN (Toronto Bike Network).

juf2m 09-10-04 11:23 AM

I only just noticed this thread now. I live in downtown Toronto, and am also a part of the TBN, although I've only been on one of their rides. I would love to ride the whole length of the waterfront trail, but so far I've only done a small part of it (am still new, having done fewer than 10 rides so far).

Niagara on the Lake. But I'm riding through T.O. on Thursday on the way to Ottawa.

Anyone know the best route accross the Lakeshore? Especially in the east end, the roads look brutal.

Right on. I've heard that a lot of people who come down our way immediately go up onto the escarpment and ride to the falls... instead of staying along the north service road next to the lake (and highway).

operator 09-11-04 05:56 PM

Hmm, I was planning on not taking the service road. Have you ridden the St Catherines to Toronto route?

hooligan 09-11-04 07:52 PM

I'm in.

Formerly known as east york, toronto, Dawes, off the danforth, close to taylor creek park.

originalbart 09-11-04 08:42 PM

Yeah. We came down to T.O. this Spring...poured all the way...just bad luck. We left from Grimsby near Casablanca, before dawn, so the sights were no big deal. But I think people coming down our way head south once they get into the Grimsby area. Once they're up on the escarpment they head east along it all the way down to Niagara. Once your into the Vineland area you can head down into the Tice Rd, Effingham St. area then down onto Pelham Rd. which will bring you into St. Catharines. A really nice ride.

Toronto girl ryder 09-15-04 11:36 AM

I live in downtown toronto and am always looking for someone to ride with.

-Stretch- 09-20-04 02:04 PM

i live in toronto, more specifically scarborough, i could use some people to bike with, kinda new to the sport, and i have no idea where trails are in or around the city...

MsMittens 09-20-04 02:18 PM

I live in Downtown Toronto (near Cabbagetown). I tend to bike wherever I can -- usually roads. I find the trails too windy and slow so I just ride down Danforth over to Kingston Road to 401 and back (works out to 48 KM roundtrip). I also occassionally do Yonge Street (early in AM on Weekends when there's less traffic). I'll be looking to figure out a route from downtown to York U this spring so if anyone has suggestions fire 'em off.

And I avoid the TBN because of a bad experience I had on their TNT so I tend to stay away from them but I'm sure they are a good bunch.

Anyone going to the Bike Show on Oct 16th?

operator 09-20-04 05:44 PM

Everyday about 7:30 I set off from where I am now and ride down Yonge st. all the way down to bloor. Cross over to St George and whopee i'm at my destination!

Ya but that's all downhill. :D.. until you go home (you are riding home right? Not TTC/GO Transiting back?)

operator 09-20-04 08:07 PM

Yeah downhill, then (sigh) uphill the way back. It's not TOO bad. Usually I have a headwind coming down and a tailwind coming back. But then there's also those times that I get a freaking headwind both ways.

Toronto girl ryder 09-22-04 03:25 PM

Msmittens...i live 5 minutes from u...email me if u want to ride...susie_2000@hotmail.com

tootleloo 09-22-04 11:18 PM

I live near the Beach area in east end of Toronto, closer to Danforth actually. I'm not able to keep up with any racing enthusiasts, and I'm not very fit, and I'm a woman over 50, and all hills are a challenge for me. But I like what I'm doing. I would love to find a companion during the daylight, weekdays especially, someone who isn't in a huge hurry and doesn't mind taking a rest now and then.

the last two ride I did with the Donut ride was relatively slow pace all the way to Highway 7, but as soon as we reach the loop going west on Hi-way 7, the pace become very intense like 40 Kliks to 45 kliks, that's where I get drop, I would usually catch the group at Grandma's Bake shop on Yonge and King Road, have a break for several minutes to have another coffee and donut, and proceed to Willlowdale lake, and the big group breaks into several smaller group

Heh cool. I never mentioned UofT :P Anyways, if you happen to pass a guy with a bright blue old ass road bike with a weird geometry (top tube is almost parallel to the tube below it) and a seat post bottle holder that's me.
