kingkelly 11-27-04 08:40 PM

are you dumb ****s really that stupid that you have to arrange your god damned rides on a bbs?

orguasch 11-28-04 05:23 PM

If it say Tourist class, this ride of the TBN is a fast one, like 30 K to 40 K an hour, although I am not sure, I think for you to ride TBN organized ride you have to pay $50.00 a year, if not you have to pay $5.00 for the days ride.

Don't the TBN rides start at Church and Wellesley?

30-40 kph, yeah right.

I've been there only 2 times, but I immediately fell in love with it! Everything just makes sense over there...the metric system, the size of food servings, the weather, the landscape.. Someday I will move to either Vancouver or Toronto and commute to work.

I grew up in Toronto and now live elsewhere in Ontario. All the things you listed about Canada are true, but the traffic in Toronto is like few others places in North America. BRUTAL!!!!

I said the Tourist ride, they do ride that fast, now maybe you have rode with them and the group is Easy Roller, that is something else, that group ride like 15 to 20 K. and hour and more frequent stops, I don't know if they start at Church and Wellesley...

kingkelly 11-29-04 05:59 PM

mmmm easy roller sounds like my cup-o-tea. Operator, did you guys end up riding on sunday at finch? t'was raining me thinks...

orguasch 11-29-04 06:08 PM

Nah I didn't go, I woke up sometime before 10 and said aw screw it, woke up again at 10:30 and that was that.

And oscar is right, the 8:30, tourist/advanced tourist groups HAMMER, I mean HAMMER. My very first ride with the TBN, I made the mistake of

1) Riding my mtb
2) Thinking tourist speed did NOT include rest breaks.

Got dropped about 5km into the ride but was able to link up with someone else who was going a bit slower. They were doing 32+ when I got dropped.

I can probably handle it now that i'm on a road bike though (yeah right). Most if not all the TBN rides have officially ended for the season. Some rides still have unofficial get-togethers. Check the site. I was thinking of doing the unofficial Friday night one.

Edit: The easy rollers do like 20kph.

kingkelly 11-29-04 08:12 PM

if its unofficial, that mean i dont have to pay 5 bux? is the friday night one slow enough for my MTB? hmm i would need a light

Yeah it's unofficial (no non-member charge). Friday night ride should be fine for you. I have a 1.2w Halogen light that I can give you for friday. You'll have to supply the C batteries though (which is why I don't use it anymore).

Or you can buy a cheap headlight from MEC $15'ish. And a rear blinkie which is like.. 4 bucks.

operator 12-01-04 10:30 AM

I'm going to show up for the unofficial wednesday night TBN right (tonight). If you're not busy, join in :)

King, it is certainly your cup of tea, if you haven't change your MTB, you'll, be able to hook up with SWF,(single white female) (older though) joining the ride

kingkelly 12-01-04 08:23 PM

Hehehe, ill keep that in mind Oscar... you should ask some of them naked sunbathers at your place to come to the rides... then ill definitely show up! School is screwing me over, so i dont think ill be able to do the firday night ride.. How was the wednesday night ride operator?

operator 12-01-04 08:50 PM

Just got back, rode with two other guys lol (guy and a gal)... Guess the enthusiasm waned since it was rainy this morning. Rode out to the spit and back. Thank heavens the guy had a 10w BLT light.

I fell coming back after I miscalculated a u turn space and sideswiped a curb. That sucked.

kingkelly 12-01-04 10:48 PM

SWEEET! any scrapes? ive still got some dirty scars

operator 12-02-04 08:02 AM

Nah no scrapes, was wearing lots of layers, had gloves on hands so just a big bang. I lay there for a minute and said F#*$.

Fortunately no one was around ;)

Shiznaz 12-02-04 08:59 PM

anybody want to do a ride on sunday? I've finally got a break from work and would love a longer ride.

Me, Saturday looks to be nicer forecast though. Any specific ride you had in mind? I could suggest the unofficial TBN SMR (Sat/Sun Morning ride).

Going to show up for tomrorows unofficial TBN ride at 6:30pm.

Shiznaz 12-03-04 12:18 PM

It would be nicer to do a ride in the day, but I've got lights anyway

operator 12-03-04 02:45 PM

K, tomorrow or Sunday Shiz?

WorldIRC 12-04-04 12:35 AM

man this thread is huge..

Shiznaz 12-04-04 12:45 AM

I would say sunday. the forecast looks better on sunday anyways
