Need help with charging battery?
I just got a used Liberty (Faulkner) folding ebike. It is 36 volts.
The previous owner put three new cells in the battery case. They will not charge.
I bought a new charger to make sure it wasn't the charger.
The battery case is Phylion Battery DC37.0 volt XH370-10J
Can I hook the charger directly to the cells and bypass all of the electronics in the battery case?
I hooked another 36 volt to the bike and it works fine.
I appreciate any help you can give me.

The battery you have is a lithium ion battery. That's the type responsible for all the fires if they are mishandled. I use a lot of the small 18650 batteries for LED stuff but I am very careful with them. You can charge individual cells with a charger designed for that size cell. Smart chargers which are the type used for Li-ion batteries monitor how much current is used and stops the charging when the battery reaches full charge. If the charger is designed to charge 10 of them in series (37V DC) you can cause a disaster by hooking it to a single cell.
