My first 1000 miles
A bit of an intro/review. I got a 2015 specialized crosstrail and put a 48v/ 48 tooth bbs02 in it. I've since recorded 1600km and many more off the log.
My commute is 25 miles each way in New Hampshire. I do this twice a week and half that distance all other days. Plus weekend riding, trails, what have you. Honestly this is the perfect set up for me and I feel like many people could use this set up comfortably. I encounter alot of conditions with this bike and it never fails my expectations. We've already taken a t-bone from a car!
I'm able to do the 25 mile trip in a bit over an hour depending on wind and my own energy. I get better, stronger and use the motor less every day. I average 12mph with no motor assistance, and that goes way up to 23 with reasonable assistance.
Recently my chain has seemed to stretch, and towing my kid/trailer with 50 pounds of groceries actually ripped the wheel off and bent the derailleur hanger. So I'm waiting on a new kmc x8 chain and replacement hangers. After 1000 miles I'm still on the original trigger sport 700x38 front wheel. The rear popped and I use a goodyear road tire there for now.
Anyway that's all for now. Really enjoying the ebike life.

Excellent review; I've had good luck with a BBS02 also. I changed the rear gearing to 11-17-28 with 8-speed spacing to have a straighter chain line; with the motor, didn't need as many gears. Plus, I thought the 8-speed chain, being wider, might be stronger. Do you charge your battery at work? Assume yes.

Perfect. Sounds great!
I have a similar situation with my bike. I used a smaller hub motor, but do 20mile commute in 50-55 minutes. I like it so much, I sold my convertible. I would rather be on the bike!

I do find it tedious sometimes; shifting through so many gears. Been considering a geared hub. I do charge at work however I can stretch my battery about 50 miles and maintain a good average speed. I also have a seperate battery and plan to experiment with that asap
