I see that there a lot of views of this post.
Here is some context - USFS has many awesome trails for outdoor enthusiasts. At present, all Ebikes including even class 1 and class 2 are not allowed on USFS non-motorized trails. This rule was introduced when Ebikes industry was new., which probably makes sense since the impact was unclear and the classification of ebikes wasn't clear to some. These rules should be tweaked given that Ebikes are now becoming mature and mainstream with classifications et al.
Pls do consider supporting use of class 1 and 2 ebikes on non-motorized trails. Your feedback will help.

Thanks for posting the link. I left a comment to the effect that since ebikes are clearly motorized vehicles they should be treated the same as other motorized vehicles. Even the weakest ones have enough torque to spin a wheel all the way up a climb. Trail destruction, especially when ridden by the overweight folks who tend to like them. JMO
