Looks like fiido is generating their second recall as the subject bike is breaking in the area where an individual would step-over to mount the bike. Cautionary tale for any model made by them IMO.

2. We promise that if any of the new T1s suffers from a frame-breaking issue under normal use conditions, Fiido will compensate the customer with $10,000. No questions asked. We are confident in T1 and are sure that no one will have the need to claim this. But feel free to bet against us.

Today, I took my (recalled) T1 out for a 20 mile ride, frame didn't break.

While moving my water bottle from the cage on the downtube, I thought to myself:

what if I re-enforce the weak downtube with a bracket between the two water bottle cage mounts?

Say a 1/4" thick steel plate in L-shape, or even a steel triangle (in orange) that mounts between the two bottle mounts.

It may not support much weight, but it's better than no reinforcement.

If you look at the pictures of the failed frames, both failed at the same spot: clean snap/break of the aluminum downtube just above the cross member (step-thru tube, just below the headtube junction.





By installing a steel bracket/plate, steel don't snap/break like aluminum, at least it will bend before breaking into two pieces.

Steel bracket/plate will spread the stress forces along the aluminum frame tubes between two water bottle mounts, instead of the stress concentrated at the aluminum tubing between the cross member (step-thru tube) & the junction of the headtube.

Mounting points for a steel bracket are already on the frame, as water bottle cage mounts.

I would just not buy from that company. If you are having to weld in your own supports and they have had two bikes in a rather short period of time that are being recalled and they don't make that many models , it is good sign that isn't a brand to support.

Also replace the F with a D and yeah. Another minor reason not to buy from them. While the frame recalls are the real issue the parody is just to ripe not to have thought of it or maybe that was the intention.

I could get the vehicle,they cloned, the RadRunner from RadPower for the same price and quite similar low end parts but at least you are getting hydraulic disc brakes.

The 10k things sounds super gimmicky and probably wouldn't pay out when it fails assuming they stick around.

IME with Fiido, they offer enough support when I need them.
So far, with two Fiido T1 with over 800 miles on them combined, I have no problems with them.
Their support department has sent me parts to replace for free, respond to my emails, offer solutions when I ask specific questions.
How many Fiido bikes have you ridden?
What specific problems have you experienced with Fiido bikes?

It seems that Fiido T1 owner already receiving their replacement bike from the recall, I think that's pretty good since the recall for T1 was only announced 4 weeks ago.
I've received FedEx tracking that mine will arrive on THU 10 NOV 2022; less than 3 weeks of reporting my serial number to Fiido.

More folks receiving their replacement T1,

I wonder how many other bicycle or ebike manufactures can provide replacement bikes within 3 weeks of issuing a worldwide recall?

Looks to me the replacement T1 frame has a bigger weakspot (in red) than the original,
hopefully that extruded aluminum down tube is sufficient to hold up against stress than the original aluminum downtube without any internal support.

Received my replacement T1 today, didn't get a chance to even get it out of the box, it's been raining heavily all day.
Maybe tomorrow.

Wheelbase seem to be the same on the replacement frame as the original T1.
The reach (seat to handlebar distance) of the original frame seems to be longer than the replacement.




Overall downtube, cross member & seat tube diameters seem to be larger on the replacement frame than original.
Distance between water bottle mounts are spread further, with higher up water bottle mounting points on the downtube.
Which will be good for the triangular brace/L-bracket reinforcement idea that I had previously,
I could fabricate two separate braces/brackets for the two frames:
Motor power output is much more controlled, maybe weak for those who already used to the burst of power coming from the original.

IME, the new power output is much more controllable from stop, easier to manage when making tight turns at lower speeds.

Which could be good for folks who are just starting out with their ebike experience.

Too much power can get people into trouble without realizing.

Hydraulic brakes on the replacement T1 are very well matched, probably more useful on the original T1.

I was happy with the original T1, and now even happier with an additional, upgraded T1 for free.

Fiido is a good company in my book.
