crank interchangeable: Bafang vs Bosch?
For crank drive ebikes.
Are the cranks interchangeable? Same as ISIS / 4 taper/ Octalink pattern on bikes? |
The BB's are not interchangeable. AFAICR, the ISIS has a larger diameter and more splines.
|
bosch is isis spline and there are only a few brands that fit. like so https://praxiscycles.com/product/bos...arbon-ecranks/
|
Okay. A chance meeting with owner today. The Bosch crank I had did not fit his bafang equipped ebike, too small. The Bafang is bigger. Both have 10 splines.

Odd. My BBSHD has standard square tapered crank spindles.

/QUOTE] My BBS02 has square taper too, but I'm using Lekkie arms to overcome the bias in the distance from the crank to chainstay. Over the years I've had both square and ISIS on various bikes, and it's a tossup; I like the ISIS interface better, but the square bearings last (me) longer. |
the square tapered Bafang is crap. stripped out. very cheap metal. Have shimano cranks now. Likewise their stamped chainring I went with lekke offset

How does one strip out a square taper end? Or do you mean the pedal threads?

Wow. Had not heard of that. Still doesn't explain how the OP had the splines.
I went with Lekkie stuff from the get go, never used the bafang crank arms. Wanted the better gearing. The Lekkie stuff shredded the self extracting feature so not sure how much better that is. |
Bafang OEM mid-drives* used to have ISIS cranks. Then they switched. But I have seen people talk about putting aftermarket cranks on them. There are still ISIS cranks being made.
*what do you call a mid drive that is made to be integrated into a frame? |
