Bosch Announces Green Light for DualBattery with the Smart System

Starting in autumn 2023, Bosch enabled the first combinations of two batteries for the familiar DualBattery function on the Smart System. With update 1.20 of the eBike Flow app, the last barriers are now falling. In future, you will be able to combine any battery that is compatible with the current drive system at the same time and thus increase the range of your ebike.

If only Bosch could do quad batteries and then R-M could do a Load 60 with quad 800s...3200whs with a Rohloff hub would be the absolute dream.

Given the speed at which they have sorted dual batteries I suspect you are in for a long wait.

Will the dual system work with previous models?
Knowing Bosch, probably not

Bosch has had dual batteries for quite a while, this is now for the newer Smart System. I see no reason why it won't be able to be used on other Smart System stuff. We did a few dual battery upgrades on Gen 4 non-smart stuff with little issue so I cannot imagine this will be a huge deal.
