Walmart Concord

This seems like a neat bike for $499. I might see if my better half wants to get a couple fro bikepacking, but I'm guessing the answer will be "NO!" since she likes to hurt while I'm more amenable to taking it easy. I tried to upload a picture, but my computer said no.

I got a good laugh out of this review "Watch my brutal cheap Walmart e bike. You can find it on Tiktok.
If you have been reading Bikeforums for any time at all you will see lots of horror stories about Walmart bikes being poorly assembled. I've seen it up close with a kid taking the cycling merit badge. He went through three bikes in two weeks. The first one had the cranks fall off before we had completed 2 miles of a 5 mile ride. In the end he gave up because the bike was so heavy compared to his own weight that it was horrible to ride. The most recent one was being behind a kid an his mother as they were returning a brand new Walmart bike at customer service. There were just too many things wrong with it to bother fixing it. If I were buying anything with a lithium ion battery I would not buy the cheapest thing available. Too much chance it might be defective. Earlier this year my brother had a battery catch fire while being charged and it caused a house fire. He was quick to cover it with a fireproof blanket used to snuff out stove fires but not before it sent smoke and soot throughout his house.

Considering the inexpensive pricing I'd say it would be worth it, but with a few caveats. It's going to need parts replaced BEFORE riding, due to the poor quality involved. Pedals, stem, nuts and bolts, definitely requires some Loctite too. The seat would need to go (as always), but the rims are double wall (which is good). 36 volts w/a max 20 mile range isn't too good for a cheap bike nowadays. I mean, if it's on sale at WallyWorld, why not? I'd rather purchase a cheap-o ebike off of Amazon though. Some of them are worth it, but we all know the parts would need a swap as well. At least they'd be a 48v system for the same price. The Concord is no longer available for sale online, so if you see it on clearance, I'd say sure, get it (if the wife will agree to it that is).

PS: Qualisports actually called me today to try and get me to buy another ebike from them. NOPE! Their bikes are good, but parts and accessories are too expensive. Can you imagine how much of an increase it will be after the new (asinine) tariffs go into effect on Aug 1st? I'll stick w/my Lectric XP Lite, thank you very much! It should arrive next week...

You want to keep your better half?

Skip the low quality market and get her something good.
