Bikes: DIY

10 Years and Counting

Yesterday my son and I rode our BBS02-equipped e-MTB's from his house in Mission Viejo to the beach in Dana Point (20+ miles round trip). His bike has a kit installed 10 + years ago (Oct, 2014, AIR) which hasn't required maintenance to the motor. The bike looks like the picture except the frame bag was replaced with a downtube-mounted battery. Interestingly (or not), 80% - 90% of the many bikes we saw were some iteration of fat tire pit bikes

.

Bikes: GT Transeo & a half dozen ebike conversions.

Very nice! Those BBS02B's will run forever as long as you keep them spinning quick. I have one from 2016 and look forward to seeing 10 years on it next year!

My first ebike conversion was a hub motor. It will soon see its 10th anniversary as well as my 10th year of ebiking,

This was back in ice cold January. Tenth birthday is in a few weeks. I've never had a flat on it, so the ebikeling 500W hub motor has never been off the bike. The original 36V battery is still working too. but I switched to a 48V last year.

Nice job on this and all your conversions. You "cheat" because you received an EE before you became "e"conscious. I'm in my 11th year (AFAICR). My first e-bike, a conversion with a Dillenger front hub kit was about 11 years ago. The motor (and essentially battery since they replaced two earlier short-lived ones after about the first and second years) still resides on my daughter's cruiser (even after two or three trips to Burning Man).
