I read that the subject company has had 11 battery fires recently and the CPSC requested that they initiate a recall, but they refused (as Radpower did recently AFAIK). Buyer/owner beware.

Not surprising. I had to turn away a Radpower because it needed electrical work and judging by the rest of the bike being in absolutely poor shape and the battery under recall I was not going to take the risk. It is a shame unsafe stuff like this keeps happening and nobody is really stopping the flow.

The statement was 11 recent fires, but I didn't see a time frame. Whatever it was, the CPSC thought there was sufficient data for a recall. My purpose in posting this is to provide info on the apparent problem.

The scary aspect of the Rad post (to me) is the "recall" the CPSC requested was for fires in older products which implies that anyone owning a Rad may be riding a time bomb. My suspect batteries are maintained where I wouldn't die (hopefully) from a fire. As a comparison, several years ago when Pedego had a similar situation (but not with a CPSC requested recall (AIR), they replaced the batteries on every bike sold.
