front fork mounted motors?

I am looking for pictures and ideas on how to mount a motor on the front fork of a bicycle. I have a sturdy rebuilt mountain bike frame as the donor bike. I would be willing to consider replacing the front fork completely if I could have a motor mount welded on - or possibly even welding to the existing fork, but I am not sure of the composition of the metal in the present front fork.

I know that when designing e-bikes lower ( center of gravity) is always better but I can see some advantages to installing it above the wheel near the fork tube - it would be more protected from road damange.

If you have seen this done I am especially interested in pics of the mounting mechanism.
