Bafang or other motor brands?

Does anybody know how much it maters what motor type e-bikes and kits use? Is it like "Honda" vs "Ford" or is it more like it just doesn't matter and all the motors in the e-bikes and the kit packages pretty much the same in quality?

-An e-bike I think has "Bafang" motors: https://urbanmover.com/products/powerAssisted/UM44SL.php

-A kit I'm considering that looks like a similar motor: https://cleanrepublic.com/hill_topper...rsion_kit.html

I found comments about Bafang and 'Tonkin' or Tonxin motors but does it really matter? Somehow I didn't think I would be so confused about something like electric assist on my bike but now that I see all the options i guess i should get some opinions.

Thanks, anyone with ideas!
