Help with 'Superstar' electric bike
Hello!
A customer has brought an electric bike into our shop for fixing and I'm struggling with it. So far I've worked out that the motor works and the battery seems fine.
It was bought just over 4 years ago from a company in the UK called CV Leisure which seems to have gone bust since. As far as I can tell, the name of the bike is 'Superstar'. Haven't got a lot of information on it.
It's a pedal assist bike, so no throtle on the handle bars. I've got a feeling the problem is with the controller built into the bottom bracket. I've checked voltage and resistance accross all of the wires coming out of the bottom bracket (whilst spinning the cranks) and nothing seems to change... So a dead controller?
I'm guessing it would be possible to install a throtle control on the handle bars and re-wire the bike to use that instead of a pedal assist? Is that possible?
And if so, how to I choose which throtle to buy? I guess I'll have to take a good look at the motor to work out what model / size it is?
So... Any tips on how to check a pedal assist to see if it's working ok would be great...
And any guidance on what type of twist throtle and wiring to bypass the pedal assit, would also be great!
Cheers.
p.s. I can post some photos if anyone thinks that would help.

yes, pictures will certainly help.
is the motor brushed or brushless ? ( 2 wires = brushed .... 3 think + 5 thin wires = brushless )
is this a hub motor ? or a chain driven motor ?

Ok, will take some photos later today and try and get them up here quick.
It's a hub motor, brushed, only two going to it.
Will shout with more details soon.

Taken another look at the bike, very little information on any of it. Can't see anything on the hub to help identify it and nothing in the (crappy) manual even mentions what voltage / wattage the motor is!
Here's some pictures, not sure if they'll help or not?

I could draw out how the wiring it set-up if that would be any use? I'm also not sure how to get into that bottom bracket at all, so any tips on that would be great.
