Welcome to the Forums from NE OK.

I've personally never heard of that company before, but the cycling universe is rather expansive.

Went ahead and moved this thread from Intro in the hopes that the OP will receive some feedback prior to purchase

Bikes: Pedego City Commuter

Pedego electric bikes are out of So Calif...

The City Commuter is an electric bike that was developed this year. I am looking forward to it and want to get a nice headlight and a rear tail light for it as well.

I was thinking of the Niterider 650 and a PDW DZ tail light..any suggestions?

Pedego ebikes are assembled from China brand parts in USA.
If you ask me Pedego is very rear heavy - motor and battery in the rear. No stable really.

battery over rear wheel - bad location, popular but bad location, mounting such bike difficult, Center of Gravity high.

I think Martin ebikes are better - better quality motor and and manuacturer a least made an efford to place battery into frame.
there is thread in this subforum about Martin

Powell is correct about the rear mounted battery. The good thing is that this particular bike uses a lighter geared hub-motor rather than a heavier direct drive unit.

You might be able to "off-set" any negative "rear mounted battery" handling effects by moving the seat forward and/or bars forward a bit (doing this did much to improve the handling on my rear mounted battery ebike).

I'd also suggest a front mounted rack if you plan on carrying real cargo on this bike. Otherwise, use caution if must carry anything on top of the battery.

Good luck, and welcome to the BikeForums.

Yes i have found the Pedego to be very heavy in the rear also, which is not good for the efficiency of your motor. Most importantly how do you find the performance of this model when not using the motor and battery, and just pedaling as a regular bicycle?
