Considering converting to an e-bike?
I'm considering converting one of my bikes to an e-bike to use for commuting (10-mi each way). The range is right, and at 25 mph, I could easily make it in about the same speed as a car.
The goal would be an in-expensive conversion, unfortunately, I think I don't have a bike that's a good donor
Buying another bike is not an option.
I'm looking for suggestions on something that would be workable given the options I have.
Here are the options for conversion:
(preferred) Trek 1.2 road bike:
8-speed Sora
carbon fork (Al drop-outs)
700c wheels with 130mm drop-outs
Existing rack
Why it fails:
Motor disconnect and road levers?
Need rear motor with 8-speed and 130mm OLD?
250W front hub with carbon fork?
(Plan B) GT Avalanche 1.0
9-speed Deore
26in with 135mm OLD
Hydraulic discs
Why it fails:
Motor disconnect and hydraulic brake levers?
No longer have a MTB for off-road riding.
