What does the glass screen cover with the Garmin logo on it do for a Garmin 705?

How hard is it to get a new one?

Mine fell off. It had some help. Hint: when one of the tie wraps holding your 705 snaps - especially if it's a few years old - the other one isn't far behind. Don't ignore the one snapped tie wrap.

https://stores.ebay.com/partsforgarmin sells all sorts of Garmin parts.

If you want to get rid of the funky mounting system Garmin uses here is an adapter that works to convert it to a newer Garmin Quarter-turn mount.
