Issue with headlight not staying in place
Hey Guys,
So I purchased the WhiteLite™ HP 1W AA by Topeak hoping it would do the job for a powerful headlight.
https://www.topeak.com/products/Light...teHP1WAA_black
The headlight works great in terms of power but the handlebar mount is horrible as it keeps tilting forward while I am riding on cobble stones.
I placed a role of thick tape between the bar and the mount and it worked for one session and then started becoming lose again as the memory foam took the shape of the tape I placed
May anyone kindly give me any permanent or long term fix for this issue as I am quiet bummed for picking up the most expensive headlight on the shelf at the time of purchase and have been let down with the product.
Thanks!

I don't know much about that light and don't hear about it much around here. Have you tried contacting topeak? I've heard of other lights including specific grippy tape with them for the bars (like the Light and Motion Taz).

If you had offered a Link to what you are talking about Id stand a chance of Guessing.. a better solution
My B&M Ixon IQ2 has a handlebar band mount that is adjustable for varios sized bars , yours may be too but you cant figure it out.

cut a 1" piece from an old piece of water hose. Make a slit in it so you can wrap it around your handlebar. Now place the bracket on over the water hose and tighten it down. Depending on the size of the bracket and the size of your handlebar, you may need a second piece of water hose with a slight overlap. I did this on my cell phone mount and it hasn't budged a single millimeter in over 800 miles.

I was googling my crappy headlight last night seeing if anyone was facing the same issues I was. Negative reviews on how weak and brittle the plastic mount is just kept coming up, but nothing on how stable the mount is. Light is great but everyone is frustrated with how such light can be so powerful yet have the worst quality mount.
Anywho, I will try the water hose method tonight once I try a double tape method I saw online. If my mount eventually breaks I'll just use the headlight as a emergency flashlight in the car and order a rubber mount headlight based on recommendations on here.

If the plastic mount breaks you could always figure out a way to use a metal hose clamp (the kind you tighten down with a screwdriver). You could keep the top piece attached to the light and JB Weld the metal hose clamp to it. That's a little redneck engineering, but would git-r-done.

Cut an old tube into the shape of the tape you used. Start by taping one end of the tube to the bars with Scotch brand electrical tape(other brands move and lose traction eventually. Wrap the tube around the bar until it is thick enough,
then hold the end in place with some tape just well enough to hold it still when you put the light on. This method
allows you to make the shim the thickness you need for your light and bars. This allows more crushing of the shim for better traction, tape does not spring back the way rubber tubes do.

So, have you looked at the mount itself, yet? it may have a Screw you remove to find a way to shorten the mounting band underneath.
Or some other way to make the band adapt to the several diameters that handlebars are produced in, these days.
it appears they have a way to do that with the mount band with a few included parts. shorter and longer lower bands and rubber pads..
