Yeah, I've tried it higher and lower. I think it just depends on the tree cover, the terrain, the time of day etc. Maybe it's happening when not all of the satellites are overhead or something.

I have Garmin 200. Ran side by side with computer/sensor for several rides. I found the differences negligible for my needs. Distance of gps has matched mapping software when I've compared. My tracks are pretty true to map. Not always perfect, better than examples at top of thread. The results of my regular rides are very repeatable. I eventually dropped the computer. I'm really only interested in avg speed and distance, and like not having the extra bits on my bike.

I don't know but it's always been very reliable and it reacts quickly in mine. Weird because the 800 came out way before accelerometers got cheap. Autopause is way more laggy in the brand-spanking-new Fenix 3.

I was in the same boat and just got the Wahoo Blue SC sensor. Since most are paired you might as well get both. I think the one I got was used from ebay for about $40 and works perfectly.

Just don't setup a cadence alert. Did a 200 km ride with a triathlete who had both HR and Cadence alerts setup on his Garmin. Nothing but bee-boop , boo-beep all day long whenever he stopped pedaling for a second.

I'm happy with it. It's much better than some older garmin hand helds I've used. I've seen it mess up before, but that's pretty rare. I want some of the features newer stuff has like notifications, but I've shied away from the options that are out now. As a brand I think I trust suunto more than garmin at this point, but there's a certain safety in numbers feel to garmin also. heh
