Bikes: 2011 Trek 2.1 Alpha - my first purchased brand new bike. Brought used before this one

Issues with Zephyr HxM Smart Heart Rate Monitor

I've looked around the site and have not found any complaints so wanted to ask any one using this model of HRM if you having issues with spikes or very high reading? I have replaced mine once before and not now the new one is doing this so really wondering what is going on.
The HRM will work fine for several months then it will start showing spikes in my heart rates well above my max HR. For example it will spike into the 200 range. Then it will go back down and start reading right for a while and then spike again or it will stay at this high reading for a while before crashing to the normal range.

I am connecting this to my Galaxy S4 using blue tooth and recording with RidewithGPS. When the first one started acting up I paired it with Endomondo on a iPhone 5 (work phone) and will see the same conditions there. I have not tried it with the second one yet but will over this weekend.

Has any one else run into this and if so what did you do other than return the unit for a replacement?

Thanks
Ray
