"Turned" is the finish left by a cutting tool during the machining process, "brushed" is a satin finish left by a wire or abrasive wheel typically done manually after the machining process.
I'm willing to bet the odds are very high that the silver units are anodized.

there must be some kind of anodized finish on them other wise they would dull & look crappy over time...

finally got it set up. Pretty amazing light. I'm pretty sure I need to spend more time setting up the Cyo Premium, and then I'll try to figure out how to go with a fixed ISO on my camera

I bought back the Luxos U and my mechanic hooked the Luxus U and IQ X to the dynamo. And it works.

So first tail light brake mode is back hooked on luxos U.
Luxos U mirror inside the light has been changed.
Led appear to be more blueish and so improved.

Luxos U is way better. You can not have one and step back to IQ X. Even old Luxos U is better than IQ X.
IQ X is only better to light further away.

Having both at the same time i can set one on and the other one off or both on at the same time.

I will try to show pictures in complete darkness but these speak for themselves.

With wheel rolling the beam intensity goes to 100 lux but the beam form is not matching in any way the Luxos U

I did not take a picture of the IQ X with the wheel moving. I don't have 3 hands.

Its all subjective as to how, and where one rides. For me the IQ-X is the superior light.

now I have to mount up the Luxos too. I think the Luxos may have a little wider beam, especially on high. I rode all night Saturday, and there were times I wished the IQ-X had a little more beam spread. Not sure I want to aim it any higher, I've had that same feeling in my car

the luxos & cyo premium look to have a little wider beam but the iq x seems to have a little farther beam throw...

I see xxcycle is selling this light for 91.58€. The cheapest shipping is 7.70€ but it doesn't have tracking. So far, so good, so if I buy it, it will total 99.28€, which, at today's exchange rate, comes to $112.38. Not bad at all, really, if it's as good as people are saying.

In terms of usable light Luxos is widest up close, the Cyo is the widest in the mid range, and the IQ-X is the widest at long range. The Luxos is actually the widest by a fair margin, but much of that additional spread is low level and full of artifacts.

I have a good discount at my LBS, but I got mine for a couple of bucks less than that special order from them. They got it from Peter White. I don't know if your bike shop deals with him, but it's worth it to me to get a local warranty. You should ask if they price match, apparently they can still make money at that price

That's an excellent suggestion. I just learned that one of my LBSs buys from Peter White, and while my xxcycle purchases have gone OK so far, my LBS would be better. He would also be better than my dealing with Peter White. I don't want to do that.

if the beam is too wide it does lose intensity. I find the cyo's beam's good for my needs when I ride around sharp turns in the dark & potholes everywhere. if the beam is too narrow it's harder to see around a turn in the dark where possible hazards exist so the cyo suits me fine. going fast in the dark on straight paths the iq-x probably is the best bet so far.

I wonder if they will once again come out with a more powerful light. the ideal light would throw a wide beam in all aspects without too much dropout...

I wonder why Peter White doesn't take more kindly to his customers. on many bike boards he has the same negative reputation.

exactly. hell, on city streets by me I can actually turn off my lights completely, but when I turn into a dark metro park then I need all the light I can get.

It's just as well. For all I know, he's a good wholesaler, and I don't have to deal with him. If my LBS and he get along, fine, because I get along with several LBSs.

my lbs doesn't like dealing with Peter White, but a lot of times they get lucky and talk to his lovely assistants. I keep hoping BuM will make a deal with QBP

a lot of people deal with peter white just because he imports these b&m lights, but any bike shop can. I myself bought my cyo direct from Germany at a pretty steep cost savings...

I Get some things from PJW @ LBS, no conversation , just order what you need clarifying question may come back ,

Tell Him how you will Pay , and thats It .. Just Business.

Last Item : a Schmidt New XS brompton rim wheel, was asked 'you a Brompton dealer?' ,
said "it's for a repair", which it was..

& that was Good enough.. used the Shop Pay Pal account.

I got mine from Bike24 for that price, but shipping was 20€. Note some of the european places list the price with tax which gets taken off at purchase (19% in Germany).

Regarding beam width, at least one reviewer managed to hate the light because it was too wide and lit up the verge too much. You can't win.

I'm confused. The IQ-X is said to have a narrow beam with a lot of throw. And someone says it's too wide?

I never seen that review... most people like it & say it's very bright & cast a long throw. nobody I heard of said the beam is too wide...

The IQ-X beam appears narrow because it throws a wider, brighter distant field than the Luxos, and Cyo.

The IQ-X, Luxos, and Cyo all have a trapezoid shaped primary near field that are approximately the same.

The Luxos has dimmer secondary fields to the sides of the trapezoid and just fades out evenly in the distant field.
The Cyos primary trapezoid extends out further making it wider in the midfield then fades out in the distant field with a small secondary rectangle of brighter light in the center of the far field kind of like a Pennsylvania highway sign .
The IQ-X has a second trapezoid in the midfield similar to the primary one, then a third short wide trapezoid in the far field. It causes an illusion that its a narrow beam because of the "steps" between the 3 trapezoids, but it really isn't.

Wow, that sounds like a pretty elaborate design. I suspect those who aren't satisfied with it are very discerning and hard to please.

I remember the first B&M headlight I bought made me laugh the first time I used it because of the trapezoidal beam shape on the ground. Those guys really sweat the details.
