USB plug types
As I attempt to simplify my electronic chargers I have a question. My Garmin 800 GPS seems to have a different type of mini USB plug.
Anyone familiar with these?
Thanks!

As we engineers like to say, the great thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.

Garmin Part Number 010-10723-15 is the OE replacement cable, which fits about 200 different Garmin models, and you are correct, it is most certainly a Mini-B. The above images are not super helpful. You want this guy:

I looked up an external image of a Mini-A, and I don't think I've ever seen one in person before. Just Mini B and Micro B.

Happily my new 520 takes a Micro B (like every cell phone on the planet not made by Apple). Not so happy for my riding companion on the weekend when I went to recharge his 800.

The put the cable retaining clip in the connector rather than on the cable. That way then the cable retaining clip doesn't grab well no more (inevitable on such cables), you're screwed. Whereas with say the micro-USB connector you can replace the cable to get it back to staying in...you're boned and have to replace the port itself on the device.
