Light and Motion Vis 360 Plus? Alternatives?
I am looking at a Light & Motion Vis 360 Plus to augment my bar mounted light for road riding.
Anyone own this light or the non-Plus version? Durability? Usability? How is the helmet mount? I like the fact that it is relatively small.
Those familiar should feel free to suggest alternatives. I'm not looking for external batteries or lots of weight. Looking for 150 to 300 lumens to augment an 800 lumem bar light. The bar light will be my primary. This will be to get a little directional light when needed, flash a driver about to turn in front of me, etc.

Vis 360 Plus - Satisfied Owner
I've looked at the Vis 360+ at the Seattle Bike show. It looks like a great helmet light. It does have a battery pack and the display at the bike show had the battery pack mounted to the helmet. That doesn't seem ideal to me. I would think you would carry the battery pack in a jersey pocket. I run a Light & Motion Urban 800 on my helmet. I would think that it weighs less than the 360+ with the battery pack included. The Urban 800 isn't really heavy, but heavy enough that it makes my helmet slide down if my helmet is not cinched down firmly on my head. The Vis 360+ seems ideal if you're carrying the battery pack somewhere other than on your helmet.

Bikes: A few older US made Cannondales, a modern Soma Saga (no longer made, alas!), and one gifted crabon Specialized. Never enough.
I have been using a 360+ for about a year now. As noted above, it's well balanced thanks to the battery at the rear. I tend to knock off the battery when the helmet is strapped to my backpack post-ride, but assume that is just my usual clumsiness. Certainly stays attached when riding. The only real complaint I have is the light easily turns on when packed away, so I started leaving it mounted to the helmet, which leads to the above. Otherwise it is a great light that compliments my bike mounted lights. Higher up means better chance car drivers will see me, I like to think. Or give them a better target... Also good for making eye contact with drivers, as the bright beam certainly gets their attention.

Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.
Another L&M 360 user. Not much to add, it is simple and reliable. I also like that the whole thing is self contained on the helmet.

Niterider Lumina Flare; I think the front is 650 lumens and the rear is 1 watt:

I've had the regular version for about 5 years and love it. The claimed 120 lumen output is very conservative, and I really like the integrated switch that works both lights. The battery pack seems pretty robust and even though the charge doesn't last as long as it should anymore I'm still really happy with it. I originally thought I'd use it until the battery died and replace it with something better, but now I'm thinking I'll just get another battery for it when it goes. But the battery has outlasted a couple of battery packs for the magicshine light I use it with, I think you'll be happy with either version if you buy one.
The helmet mount is very secure, and the battery is in the rear light balancing out the front light. I rode a motorcycle for years and the weight doesn't bother me (the 18650 powered light mounted on the helmet doesn't bother me either). It's a nice light for the ride to work when it's light out and I'm using the flash feature for extra attention, at night the light helps make me more visible to cars that looking like they're going to pull out in front of me. The side lights are a great idea, but I have no idea if they really do much or not.

I am kicking this thread because, while I am still using my L&M 360 (yes, going on ten years), I am looking for a replacement.
When I search, I am finding nothing. Can anyone point me to a similar product?

- fully self-contained (all of the components needed are built in)
- Front light
- Rear light
- some sort of battery pack
- All attachable to a common helmet

You are right
Bike light database doesn't seem to list any alternatives. It looks like L&M has replaced the $100 Vis 360 version with the plus version for $180. That's a pretty stiff price hike. I had a fellow retired medical doctor rider for whom price is not much of a consideration. The Vis 360 was a pretty good product but more than I was willing to pay compared to just putting more than one inexpensive rechargeable light on my recumbent trike. You are right that the original is not available even as NOS online.

There are stick lights which have front and rear lights, like Exposure Link Plus Mk4:
