What phone mount do you use if any?
#4
Generally, I don't anymore. I usually put my phone in a side pocket on the bike bag I keep on my rack. When I was using a handlebar mount, it was a generic holder/bag that my phone would slip into with a clear touch screen cover so I could see the ride data.

I use Cyclemeter app and Wahoo fitness HRM (chest strap) and cadence meter (foot pod). They work great. I carry my iPhone 6+ in a front shirt pocket. I use the audio cue on splits for time and speed. Someday I'll get around to buying a bar mount.

If you are using an iPhone, check out Cyclemeter. It doesn't have turn by turn (it's being worked on) but it beats any of the other apps hands down - and I've tried almost all of them. You can spend an entire morning just going through all the things that Cyclemeter tracks and displays. For a really nice handlebar/stem bike case for your iPhone, check out the Topeak RideCase.

Haven't used the topeak, but I've used quadlock on my last two iphones. Fantastic. It makes for a bit of a heavy case, but it feels good i the hand, and you can't beat the convenience of screwing on the phone every time you get on the car or in your car. I also love the new out-front mount. It's much sturdier and can be tightened down much further than their previous mounts. i actually use them w/ the phone mounted behind the handlebars instead of out front.

Ditto, Cyclemeter. It was the fourth app I tried, after Strava, Map My Ride, and somethingsomethingGPS. Cyclemeter is very easy to use and I don't even need a data plan for my iPhone 4s. The GPS records everything. Only downside is I don't get realtime map views when I'm away from home wifi, but the map appears later with my recorded route.
I'm getting enough use from the app to consider getting a data plan for the iPhone just so I can have realtime navigation aids.

I use map my ride on my iPhone 5. I have a Lifeproof case and use a Lifeproof handlebar mount. I've never had a problem in three years of riding with it. Not sure if they make a similar mount for iPhone 6.
