Dynamo wiring??
So I recently added a Nitto front rack to my 1984 Miyata 610. This has become my favorite bike. I have been considering building a new wheel with a dynamo hub.
So how do you run the wiring so it is pleasing and not messy? Thanks! |
I haven't bothered to snake my wiring through the fork and frame so my wiring is messy with classic zipties.
In any case, if you're using modern LED lighting with a dyno hub, it is important not to use the frame as ground and run a single wire as we did back-in-the-day when lights were filament and ran on AC power. I won't go into all the messy details, if you use the frame as ground combined with a single wire conductor, your LED lights will act funky and won't light up correctly. Run a double wire from the hub to your LED lights, not a single wire. |
I use Gorilla clear repair tape. Much more pleasing than zipties. I wear latex gloves while applying it, otherwise there are too many smudges. Can't see the smudges that badly though
