Anyone using Garmin 500 ?
Hello all,
I'm thinking about getting into the gps scene.... I have always used traditional bike speedometers but like the idea of keeping track of my rides on the computer. So I'm looking to get into it but not spend a bunch.... I see the 500 a lot of EBay for around $80 or a bit more. Anyone still using one? I realize it's a few years old compared to the new models but for what I'm thinking of using it for I think it would be fine. Any thoughts? Thanks! |
I've had one for the past 3 years. Great little computer. It gets old having to plug it in to a laptop to download to Strava. It will not synch wirelessly to your phone like newer computers.
If I was in the market for a new one now, I'd get a Garmin 25. Small and it synchs wirelessly |
Its nice but to me was very slow acquiring GPS satellites.

I was wondering about that part of it. |

I purchased my Garmin 500 in 2010 and recently upgraded to 520. There's a big price difference between the 25 and 520, so check out the features you want if your budget is tight.
The 520 does find satellites much faster than the 500. |
I've been using one since about 2010 and it still works flawlessly.
