Anyone using Garmin 500 ?

Hello all,

I'm thinking about getting into the gps scene.... I have always used traditional bike speedometers but like the idea of keeping track of my rides on the computer.
So I'm looking to get into it but not spend a bunch.... I see the 500 a lot of EBay for around $80 or a bit more. Anyone still using one? I realize it's a few years old compared to the new models but for what I'm thinking of using it for I think it would be fine.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

I've had one for the past 3 years. Great little computer. It gets old having to plug it in to a laptop to download to Strava. It will not synch wirelessly to your phone like newer computers.

If I was in the market for a new one now, I'd get a Garmin 25. Small and it synchs wirelessly

Its nice but to me was very slow acquiring GPS satellites.

Thanks very much! I was looking at the 25 also. Seems like a nice little unit.

I purchased my Garmin 500 in 2010 and recently upgraded to 520. There's a big price difference between the 25 and 520, so check out the features you want if your budget is tight.

The 520 does find satellites much faster than the 500.

I've been using one since about 2010 and it still works flawlessly.
