Garmin Edge 500/510/520/800/810/1000 .NET Framework error

Have any of you that have the above Garmin Edge bike computers. Got an error saying you have the wrong version of .NET Framework? When trying to upload your ride data w/ Garmin Express.

there are lots of different .net framework versions. Maybe it wants a particular minimum framework? Was the error more specific than that?

"This application requires one of the following versions of the .NET Framework

.NET Framework, Version=v4.5.2

Do You want to Install this .NET Framework version now?"

I quit fighting that error a year or two ago, and I do the manual upload thing now.

See, it's not just the embedded software Garmin doesn't know how to program!

I finally was able to get a hold of Garmin tech support on the phone. They had sent me instructions via e-mail yesterday. I did the instructions wrong for a Hard Reset. It caused my Edge 500, to sound like a stuck car horn. They explained to me what I did wrong, and how I should have done the Hard Reset. The noise finally stopped.

I told them, that my pensiveness was due to the 'touch-screen' technology. They told me, had my 500 'kicked the bucket', they still had more in stock despite there no longer being in production. Even better news was finding out that, the Edge 520 doesn't use touch-screen. So, I will save up for the Edge 520.

If your edge 500 finally dies, the out of warranty repair is currently only $89. So compare that to the usefulness of the few additional features on the 520 before spending $250 or so.

While they call it repair, they probably just toss it in a scrap pile and pick a refurb'd unit from their supplies.
