Solid eTrex Ram Mount for bikes

We have and eTrex 20 and eTrex 30x that we used for geocaching, so I had been using the Garmin bike mount to keep track of my data. However the eTrex 20 somehow popped off while I was riding and was lost (after searching a 6 mile stretch several times.)

Decided to try this Ram Mount setup and it works great!

The cradle is removable from the mount with a 1/8 turn and is very solid. It would also work on a smart phone with the right adapter and let you change the orientation from portrait to landscape with a 1/4 turn and doesn't stick up too far from the stem.

Standard diamond mounting so your device will fit with the right cradle.

Bikes: 1961 Ideor, 1966 Perfekt 3 Speed AB Hub, 1994 Bridgestone MB-6, 2006 Airnimal Joey, 2009 Thorn Sherpa, 2013 Thorn Nomad MkII, 2015 VO Pass Hunter, 2017 Lynskey Backroad, 2017 Raleigh Gran Prix, 1980s Bianchi Mixte on a trainer. Others are now gone.

I use the standard Garmin mounts on my Garmin 64. On that type of mount you slide the GPS forward to remove it, I use a rubber band to hold it into the mount so it does not slide forward. And for those rare times when I did not slide it into the mount correctly, I use a short string on my GPS to keep the GPS near the bars if it falls off. I think it has fallen off twice or maybe three times, but some of those times were before I added the rubber band (over the antennae in the photo). When it fell off, it hung from the string until I could stop and re-position it.
