Need Handlebar Mount for Garmin 60csx

I have an older Garmin handheld GPS that I do not want to part with. Previously, I had it mounted to three other bikes, but my newest bike has a different diameter handlebar. The new road bike has a 38mm diameter section that is between where the bar tape stops and the center of the stem, and my old handlebar mount does not close over this section. I do not want to invest in a new GPS / Cycle Computer because of the cost and I have no intention of adding ANT+ stuff, HRM, Cadence Counter or anything else. My old GPS gives me all the info I want, thank you very much.

Anyway . . . Any suggestions? I've contacted Garmin and I already have the only clamp they ever made and this is a discontinued GPS.

Does the 60 csx use the same mount as the Garmin 62 or 64? If so, they make a handlebar mount that attaches to the bar with a pair of zip ties. I found that the mount would slip on the bar, so I cut a strip of rubber from an old inner tube and wrapped that around the bar first, that seemed to help.

Their description says it fits on up to a 1 inch bar, but it will fit on anything that the zip ties will fit onto. I have it on the larger size road bars.

Some people have found that the GPS is hard to get in the bracket, others have found that it will slip out of the bracket. I use a rubber band to keep it from slipping out of the bracket. And a short cord attached to the handlebar so that if it does come loose, it won't fall off the bike.

Photo shows that bracket on the larger diameter bar with my Garmin 64.

I did not buy mine from Garmin, I think I got it on Amazon, but that was a few years ago.

Do you have any friends or family in Western Australia?
Its nowhere near where I reside, but I spotted this tonight on gumtree and remembered your thread.

It might not even be the right mount for your model Garmin, but at least it might prompt you if nothing else to consider looking at the secondhand market.

Thank you, rifraf, but I came across RamMounts independent of your help. They are readily available in the US. I was on their site last night and it is more involved than the one piece you are showing. Actually, I am considering changing my mind (Gasp!!) and getting a dedicated GPS enabled bike computer. This change of heart is not based on a desire for power meters or any other such, but the age of the GPS I am using and the clean mounting options available for some of the newer units.

Now the new hurdle is one that will display information from my SRAM Etap setup. I've physically looked at two, Lezyne Super GPS and a new unit from Giant. Both display the information I want, but only show gearing information for Shimano, not SRAM.

The search continues and my old GPS still sits in my Camelback when I ride the newest bike.

Sadly, no, it does not use the same mount. That would be too simple. :)

On a side note, but related, I had a 64st . . . briefly. Two in fact. This was after the units came out. My 60csx got soaked in a heavy rain, and the unit quit working; I had a break in the waterproof gasket I was not aware of. Got the new 64st and mounted it on the bike. As I am begging my ride, I see the distance go from 7ft, to 10ft, to 14miles in the matter of a few pedal strokes! I though this was a fluke, but noticed some mileage oddities on some routes I ride regularly. Took it back and exchanged it for another new 64st. This one showed I had an average speed of 70 MPH with a max speed of 100+ MPH.

On a bicycle.

That unit went back, I got my money refunded and I found a company to repair my 60csx. It is still working, just fine.

Now THAT looks like a possibility!

Thank you muchly!!
