[LED lights] Are bottle dynamos and hub dynamos compatible?

many lights nowadays do not short to the frame, so they will work wired backwards. However, I have seen people say their system worked at first and then stopped working. And the reason has turned out to be a light that has provisions to be grounded to the frame. Sometimes it takes some effort to get through the paint.
