Bikes: 1961 Ideor, 1966 Perfekt 3 Speed AB Hub, 1994 Bridgestone MB-6, 2006 Airnimal Joey, 2009 Thorn Sherpa, 2013 Thorn Nomad MkII, 2015 VO Pass Hunter, 2017 Lynskey Backroad, 2017 Raleigh Gran Prix, 1980s Bianchi Mixte on a trainer. Others are now gone.

The site I used to use stopped working over a year ago.

I think this is the best option, but the limit on how much you can load with this is much less than the one I used to use.

There is a forum user on this board that has Kayaker as part of his user name, I think he is the most knowledgeable of the various options at this time.

Make sure you pick a Latin version. With that, any of the Garmin options will work.

Copy the *.img file to \Garmin. Feel free to rename the file (keep the .img part).

Make sure it’s enabled on the device.

Don’t open the img file in Windows. Windows thinks it’s some other type of file.

I started with the Latin version and even tried some of the others. After I load it onto the micro SD card and install it in the Garmin I go to Maps and it is not showing to be Enabled. Last night I redid it and before I removed the card from the computer I opened it and it was 0 bytes. Then a message about corrupted disc.
Thoughts?

What Garmin unit are you using? All of mine come with preloaded maps that update regularly for free via Express.

?

I guess you aren’t seeing it in the list at all?

(You should see it in the list as enable or disabled.)

Note that the img file has to be in the \Garmin folder on the we card.

I can't say what the OP is using, but I use a general recreation grade GPS. I have loaded topo maps, automotive road maps, and cycle maps onto my GPS, a Garmin 64 and also a Garmin 62S. I use my GPS units for biking, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking and hiking. I know that there are others that use general recreation grade GPS units on this forum too.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I used to do it with the site before BBBike and it used to be as simple as copying the files, but now they don't show up to be activated. What changed? Is there a limit on the number of custom maps?
I tried several types /codings (UTF-8 and latin8, several versions of the maps) with no luck.

No idea what you mean by “activated”.

Is the map showing up on the Edge’s map list?

I think every downloaded map uses the same ID. These have to be unique for enabled maps. The name for the map you provide on the website should probably be unique too (otherwise you won’t be able to distinguish them in the list).

I mentioned above that only Latin will work on the Edges.

No, that's what I was referring to. I tried several encoding and versions with no luck.

At the end the BBBike-Latin1 version was able to make it.

Thanks for your help!
