Using Cateye ISC12 sensor for cadence only

I have a cateye ISC12 speed and cadence sensor that is ok but finicky because my wheel magnet kept sliding. I went ahead and got a magnetless speed sensor for my hub and removed the ISC12 wheel magnet, thinking I could use the cateye for just cadence and the new sensor for speed. But I am having an issue where speed or cadence will periodically cut, out so am wondering if my wahoo element reads the ISC as a speed sensor despite the absence of a magnet so won’t take signals from both sensors. Is it possible to use the cateye for just cadence while using a seperate speed sensor?
