My Planet Bike 5 LED front blinky is acting up. It sometimes does not work (no response to the on-off switch) until I take it off the bar mount and rap it on my stem a few times. Usually when a blinky starts doing this I retire it but it occurs to me that something really simple and easy to fix might be causing the problem. So, do any of you have any ideas? Dry it out? Clean the battery contacts? Etc? TIA (This Is Africa)

Contact planet bike customer service. I had the Beamer 5 (which I think you're referring to) start to act up in a similar fashion.

Mine turned out to be a faulty seal on the switch. It would sometimes go into what I called "induce epileptic seizure mode" (especially after seeing rain or snow) and it would be totally unresponsive to the switch - couldn't turn it off or into solid mode and so would have no choice but to induce epileptic seizures wherever my route took me. Kind of like Johnny Appleseed, but not quite so nice.

They sent me a new one. I put a bit of electrical tape around the seam now and haven't had that problem since.

Both their headlights and taillights take water. They are OK in a drizzle, but not in pouring rain.

So if your problem started after being exposed to a good rain, I would you dry everything and see if it works. Then install electrical tape around the openings. I found that it's enough to get a good seal.
