Direct PC/Mac display for Garmin
I was wondering, does anyone know of any software that makes it possible to connect a garmin to a computer and have real time readouts. Basic it would only be for trainer use, but cool none the less.

Hello
I have a hand held magellen. When I connect the USB cable to the computer I get a choice of
1) file transfer
2) power only
3) NMEA comm.
When Placed in NMEA comm mode. The computer receives the location of the GPS receiver in real time. The program I use is Microsoft Streets and Trips 2006 . I have taken several long distance
car trips with this system using a laptop. I would rather have one of those simpler dashmount systems.
There are other programs that can use the NMEA signal such as offerings from Delorme. I hazard a guess that your Garmin has the ability to preform NMEA comm. I don't know what NMEA stands for but it works rather straight forward.
