I have never heard of the term, but also found this at the "urban dictionary" (Chronic Humanoid Attitude Virus)

There is a professional photographer that posts pictures in the commuting forum from time to time. Mainly of xtracycles with the down low glow. They look very nice.

I have had down low glow lights on my bike until their crappy battery died after about 10 rides. They weld the batteries together so if you get one bad cell, you have to toss the whole expensive battery. Stupid system. Great lights though. No gay guys hit on me, so must not be too gay. I also have monkey electric on the front wheel for more side visibility.

If I wanted to add a down glow type light to my bike I'd just hack something up using cold cathode tubes http://www.xoxide.com/coldcathodes.html used to add light to computer cases. they come in lots if colors. Could probably do it for $20 including rechargeable battery pack to fit a bottle holder.

Well, florescent lights are cooler than halogen lights but not as cool as LEDs. However, as long as you keep moving you don't have to worry about overheating as the air flowing over them will keep all three types cool enough.

This was the second winter of using them....I commute in, and ride home in the dark about 11 miles each way.......now with more daylight, I have taken them off, but I'll put them back on next November to March....
"Cool" never entered my mind, my entire reason was and is to get more visibility.........if "they" can see me, I figure I have a fighting chance! |

I have a dual-tube amber DLG and have gotten nothing but positive comments on 'em. I second the thought "if you like 'em, get 'em and forget what others say".

Not quite as cool, but a whole lot cheaper -- http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.6488

i might consider them, if it didn't require battery
