Edge 705 Repairs

https://gpsinformation.net/main/outofwar.htm

This past weakend I had a small accident. Thankfully my bike was not harmed but my Edge 705 was damaged. The LDC is not working.

Apparantly Garmin has a program that they will repair the Edge 705 for a flat $75.00. Has anyone ever used this program with Garmin to have their Edge repaired?

Thks.

I have contacted Garmin concerning the repair of my Edge 705. I was wrong the charge is a flat $110.00 for the repairs.

I was told Garmin replaces the unit with one that has been rebuilt when you send then a unit that needs repair.

Not a bad deal. If they did not have this program I would have to buy a new edge for a lot more than $110.00

if you bought maps that are unlocked to work on your old 705 and you get a replacement unit, do they unlock the maps for you on the replacement unit?

I just got my 705 back today. It took Garmin less than one week to return it to me. I am impressed.

Maps. That is more problematic. I lost the disk for the Road Map software. If and when I find the disk my plans are to call Garmin and have then help me unlock the software.

Bottom line is that I am very impressed with Garmin customer support.

Keep us updated. You can unlock the maps twice per their usage license.

I had to re-register my replacement Edge with the new serial number. In theory when I did that it would generate a 25 digit code that would unlock the maps. It did not and I had to call Garmin. Garmin gave me the new code and I was able to unlock maps.

Garmin tech support take forever to get a real person on the phone, but once you get a real person they are very knowledgeable and helpful

That's been my experience with them, too.
