If you have entered accurate ht and wt numbers it will give you a "ballpark" figure. As an avid runner(over 71,000 miles logged over the last 34 yrs) may I make a suggestion regarding calories. Coaching lots of runners over the decades I give them a motto that seems to work. Exercise (be it walk, run, swim, bike, jump rope, etc.) for fitness. Eat for diet.--Say what? Focus less on # of calories and focus on enjoying exercise. The more you enjoy and exercise properly you will burn more calories. This is in conjunction with your caloric intake. I don't think I can recall many runners who consistently ran 40+ miles per week being too concerned with gaining weight. Just keep in motion. Nick

The garmins like most devices run a little high.. a more accurate measure is 8 cal per minute at moderate pace, 12-16 cal per minute at hard efforts..
