Newt NiteRider...failed after rain?

Curious is anyone else has had a Newt NiteRider fail after being in the rain. I had thought this was somewhat water resistant but it's not. When I got done with my ride it would not shut via the button. I had to unplug it from the battery. Since it's been acting odd. It appears to charge (red light) but when I plug in the light it might come on (most times not). At times acting like it's got a short. I'm sure there is h20 in it as it was fine prior to riding. I've used this about a dozen times in 1.5 years. Little disappointing.

No sites I could find on dis-assembly but I might try the hard way. I've contacted the mfg but I'm sure they won't fix it. Perhaps it's MagicShine Time?

Water can get in around the button.
