If the LED's Vf is ~3V then I'm impressed the SP can drive it. We need higher current dyno hubs, 1A would be nice! I get a kick out of your thread, that one poster knows just enough linear networks to be dangerous, too bad he's lacking practical experience in the lab.

1A would be nice. Currently 500ma is more than plenty, I'm not wishing for more. I'm already brighter than practically every cyclists I come across, plus my runtime is unlimited.
On my trekking bike, I have 6 xpg/xpe setup in the front with 2 red xpe in parellel on a single 5.5v 1uf supercap, shimano deore xt dynamo. Shimano deore xt dynamo generates the light faster on less revolution on the same circuit used by the sp, the sp spins smoother and longer.

Here's my trekking setup. 6 leds in front with 2 red leds in the back in parallel. gen2 xpg and xpe, all in series. xpg has a 3 5.5v 1uf supercap for standlight. super cap and circuit is in the steerer tube.
The led optic holder is different in colour because I didn't have any spare left so I bought one locally instead of buying one online and waiting a week.
Road dynamo taillight is currently a b&m, not bright enough, will be replaced with a single cree xp-e.
Single cree xp-e red on my townie.
Sometimes I run this with a 100 lumen red led flashlight in flashing mode, but most of the time, this is plenty. Way better than battery powered 2w taillights.

It was good meeting everyone. Everyone had a light that was impressively bright, brighter than my 2 battery lights. But overall, I'm pretty impressed with my dynamo light (unbiased opinion of course) and how it lights the road in front of you. The thing it doesn't do is light up the signs a half mile (10 NYC blocks) away and reflect them back at you. That means the reach on a battery light is about a mile. My light just lights the road, and does that incredibly well. I meant to ask 1nterceptor to ride my bike so I could see what it looks like mysef coming at me, but just never did. I'll ask my son this weekend to do that.
Next up will be my Magnic Light taillight. Dirk says that it will ship sometime in April. I already had one of those, but lost it when the bolt came loose. It was also pretty impressive for a taillight.
