iPhone app

What's best app for iPhone to tell me speed, mileage, map and calorie burn.
I'm new to biking and really need loose weight

So please advise on best app ;-)

I use Strava.

Best is of course subjective, and prepare to get 20 different opinions.

I've personally used Endomondo and Strava iPhone apps. If I didn't use/need the social aspect of Strava I was perfectly happy with Endomondo.

I use Endomondo

Cyclemeter!

You will need to get a HR monitor, I use the Whaoo one with the Cyclemeter App.

I like the free version of "lose it!" (a calorie counter). I never eat the calories I burn... NEVER. But, I often try to cycle off any calories I've eaten.

Many options, most of which are free so try some out.

Runkeeper, mapmyride, strava, cyclometer, etc.

I like Strava, partially for the social features, but also went to strava premium largely to track my personal best and compare against that on particular segments. I don't EVER expect to be KOM for any segments as I am not that fast but for me it is motivating to try to beat myself and set new personal bests.

Cyclometer looks very interesting and allows uploading to Strava.

I use MAPMYFITNESS which covers other activites as well.

I would have said Strava, which is what i use on my iPhone5. My wife loaded Strava on her Samsung Note II and the interface differences with the iOS version are not minor... I.e. on iOS I can go to start recording in one tap, on the Note II it's like 3 or so. Maybe it's configurable, I have not found how. Nonetheless it's a fun app, nothing like being 249th out of 250 for your segments :(

This is a good video on the subject...

There is an app in the Google play store, called One Click for Strava, That's all it does, one click to start strava and start recording. I've used it and it works.

I installed Cyclemeter. I love the app., but I have problems with my Iphone. 5 going to the sleep after 5 minutes. What am I doing wrong?

gforeman 07-26-14 12:15 PM

What do you mean going to sleep? The app should run in the background. If you are wanting to watch the screen, then you will have to turn the lock timeout off.

For me, I purchased a Wahoo RFLKT. This mounts on the handlebars and displays all the stats from the phone.

Also, I have the App announcing my stats every 15 minutes and every five miles. This way you do not have to even see the screen.

More>Settings>Advanced>Screen On

Then select what you want. I have mine set to "on when recording."

I tried all but no go. It doesn't go to lock mode when using GPS app. Like Google maps?..
