Mk1 at the top, Mk3 at the bottom. Longer, lower, thicker sides, cross bracing at the junction point.

I'm impressed with the MK3. Do you offer it for sale? I'd like to use this to mount my ORFOS lights.

Yes, it is available for sale from my Shapeways account. https://www.shapeways.com/designer/w...idget_workshop

I received my copy from Shapeways to test and it is stiffer than my home made version. Works fine and I'm happy with how secure it is with a set of AyUp lights mounted. There is some wobble on rougher sections of road and at speed. Since it was getting light (morning ride) it was not possible for me to see how noticeable this is with the beam on the road.

How does the Orfos light mount? Is it magnetic only? Would you need an extra part of some sort - GoPro to flat surface so you can mount that magnet?

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=502167

I'm not confident about this mount with the extra weight of a GoPro camera, but I'll test it out using a safety lanyard just in case.

My plan is to create a more sturdy version that will handle a camera more confidently, but this probably won't be compatible with road brakes due to the extra material I'll need to add.

Kestrel RT stuff

2 Attachment(s)
Got a chance to work up a couple more GoPro and Dinotte tail light mounts this time for Kestrel RT series aero seat posts.

Long and short version of a size specific mount for GoPro's and other action cams, or for other adapters.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=502764
A size specific post mount for those with Dinotte taillights or if you wish to mount a race number, etc. It really works on nearly everything that uses a sort of reflector mount only much sturdier.

After spending several hours measuring NiteRider's mount for the Pro series, I am beginning to hate their mounting system, way overly complicated. Here is what the design looks like so far:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=503023

Will probably make a version that is GoPro mount compatible as well as a mount that can screw onto the bottom of a K-Edge XXL Garmin Mount.

NiteRider Pro Adjustable interface for the K-Edge Combo Garmin Mount

1 Attachment(s)
Update on NiteRider Pro: I have completed work on K-Edge Combo Mount NiteRider Pro Interface. It is a copy of the NiteRider Pro adjustable mount suitable for attaching to the K-Edge Combo Garmin mount. It lets you adjust the angle of the headlamp after you set the Garmin/K-Edge at your prefered angle. I did not do one for the GoPro as there is already someone on Shapeways that has one that clips into the GoPro Quick Release Clip. Another person has a NiteRider Lumina to GoPro adapter, also available on Shapeways. This one will also accommodate using the K-Edge with a Garmin ForeRunner watch (the watch requires that the plastic mount insert be turned 90°). It requires two M3 x 8 mm screws (please do not go longer as it won't fit).

K-Edge Combo Mount NiteRider Pro Interface

When printed it is a solid piece of nylon and should be very sturdy. Most of the other mounts I make are hollow, but this one required the most strength especially if used with any of the dual headlamp options. This Interface will fit all versions of the K-Edge Combo mounts.

Looking forward to using the Nite Rider mount. I'll post pictures when I get it.

Forgive me for not reading all 10 pages of this (though I read a lot)

I'm going to describe what I would love to have. I'm hoping someone will tell me if it exists, or could exist.

Planet bike makes a bracket for their Superflash that mounts on a rack. Here's a link
Taillight Rack Bracket

I'd love a printed version of this that also included a slanted slot for a Fly6 rear camera that has a very limited mounting option
Amazon.com: Fly6 HD Camera and Rear LED Light Combo: Sports & Outdoors

Possible? In existence? Advice?

WheresWaldo has made a couple of Fly6 mounts, but not for a Superflash (or similar) mount.

Have a look at these here and here. No other Fly6 options come up on Shapeways

I've designed a Cateye to GoPro mount (here), but although the Cateye mount is similar in someways to the Superflash I don't think it will work.

Probably not too hard to do - WheresWaldo has the Fly6 mount already drafted, so hopefully he see this.

cccorlew 02-18-16 09:54 AM

Thanks so much for this. I shall explore further!

@cccorlew, I sent you a PM in response to yours. Totally doable.

Follow-up question: Here is what I am thinking about with this, I could just make an adapter that goes straight from the rear of the rack to the Fly6 and it would mount but you would have no adjustability and if you rack isn't mounted perfectly level or with a very slight downward tilt from front to back your image framing may be way off with no way to adjust other than shims. What if there was a rack GoPro mount that you just bolt on permanently to the rear of the rack? Then use the Fly6 GoPro adapter. At least then you would have tilt adjustability.

This is one area where design considerations made by Cyclic are less than optimal. There are just very little options for image framing adjustments. Not every seat tube angle is 73°.

Also I know that most standard racks that use 2 bolts space them 50 mm center to center horizontally, but if your arrangement is vertical what is the measurement of the two mounting holes center to center?

Something like this would work for people wanting a dual rack mount GoPro, click on image to see larger version.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=505500

This would work on Topeak and Planet Bike rear racks since they have 50 mm spacing between the rear holes, possibly many others also. The three holes here are spaced 25 mm center to center, It could be mounted with the GoPro mounts facing up or down. The GoPro acorn nuts face each other on the inside so that the two thumbscrews do not interfere with one another. @cccorlew let me know what you think?

cccorlew 02-19-16 07:28 PM

Heck yeah! That would be perfect coupled with the Fly6/GoPro adapter. Actually better than a fixed angle for the reasons you point out.
Now I'm just one PlanetBike SuperFash/GoPro adapter away from commuter bike Nirvana.

cccorlew maybe JonnyHK can do something about that, I believe he has already done something with Cateye and I think the SuperFlash mount is the same. He has already modeled the Cateye insert maybe he has something for the actual mount. If not I can see what I can do.

So someone in the UK approached me on Shapeways and asked for the bike logo to be placed on a 27.2 mm GoPro Seat Post Mount Clamp. Normally I don't do that since there are so many logos and too many seat post sizes. I do place them on the aero seat post mounts. Here is the mount on his Specialized

@cccorlew - I think that they are similar and compatible to a certain amount, but not quite the same*. I think I have an old SuperFlash mount here so I'll dig it out and see.

*The Cateye mount is closed on 3 sides. I think the SuperFlash and many similar ones are only really closed on the sides, with the bottom open for the clip part.

cccorlew 02-19-16 09:51 PM

Yes, the superflash mount is open at the bottom. Here's a link to a photo. Zoom in after you click the link.
I put three photos together. It's the second one down

Dual GoPro Rack Mount Fixture

GoPro rack mount is now up and should be available in all the colors shapeways offers, although I think most people would choose black.

Not too worried since it is not an exact copy, it's just a stylized letter 'S'. If they threaten I would fork over the proceeds from this one-off sale, that amount and $5 from Specialized will get them a Vente from Starbucks.

:innocent:

Ever so cool. I shall order this and the Fly6/GoPro as soon as I get the Superflash part of the problem solved. Heck, I'd even switch to my Cygolite Hotshot if there was a GoPro mount for that!

WheresWaldo 02-20-16 09:18 AM

cccorlew, I always liked the Moto Ti bikes, great bang for the buck. And now with essentially custom 3D printed mounts a sharp looking ride too. I also like that you removed all the Moto decals from the frame.

cccorlew 02-20-16 12:22 PM

Oh, heck with it. I'm not waiting. I'm ordering the double go pro mount and the Fly6 now. Even if no one makes a Superflash or Cygolite Hotshot/GoPro adapter maybe I can fake one from their seat post mounts that will fit on the double GoPro...

Off to spend money...

I'm about to be unavailable for a while (travel, moving countries) so I might not get to the Superflash mount for couple of months.

I have just done another version of my fork crown mount though...

Disk, canti or v-brake compatible only.

The width of that oval area holds the head of a hex M6 bolt neatly. No room for a washer unless it is small.

Awaiting the Shapeways printed version so I can do some testing.

Virb (Old Style) / Garmin Quarter-turn Mount Adapter

1 Attachment(s)
A request from Germany. I had put the Garmin Virb / Virb Elite on the back burner since the new Virbs are GoPro mount compatible. Someone wanted to use a Garmin quarter-turn socket to mount a Virb, I already had a GoPro version of this.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=506587
Virb / Garmin Quarter-turn Adapter Mount

This mount uses the standard Virb thumbscrew and nut. Garmin chose M4 as the size, which is different than the M5 used by GoPro.
