It's popular all over the country. It's cultural, a way of life basically. It's a normal mode of transportation here, and some people only get around by bike. There are bike paths everywhere, one can ride pretty much from one side of the country to the other without having to ride on a highway or major road.
Many people don't own cars, but own more than one bike. They also start biking at an early age and bike into old age, well into their 70s and 80s. There are no school buses here so kids have to ride their bike most of the time. The mail is even delivered by bike.
