I Want A Speeding Ticket

I do, really.

Our little town has several descents with 25mph speed limits as you cross into the city limits. Last year I rode them avg'ing 37mph. The main drag is 25mph and is flat, so I would have to earn that one. My shop has an empty place for a framed ticket. Maybe this year.

Bikes: 2018 Specialized Roubaix Elite, 2009 Specialized Hard Rock 29er, 1989 Cannondale w/Campy Nuovo Record Components (mostly anway, now just on the trainer) and Easy Racer Recumbent (home made from plans)

I didn't get a ticket but I did get kicked out of a local park for exceeding the speed limit. It was 25 mph I believe. I was much younger and training for a race at the time.

It's not about speeding. Cop isn't gonna think anything of it on a bicycle. Get his attention another way then he'll radar you. Try doing it in a cape and Speedo.

Speeding on a downhill doesn't get you any bragging points. Getting a ticket on flat ground is better, if only because there's no way you'd get a ticket in a 25 mph zone unless you were doing 30+.

We do have a batman in our neighboring town of Petoskey. Google that.

Lol ... brilliant!

I'm with you OldsCool ... If I get a speeding ticket on the bike on a road shared with vehicles, I'm framing it.

Bikes: See my sig...

I once got a ticket for doing 60kmh in a 50kmh zone... the cop that gave me the ticket was my next door neighbour (and beer drinking buddy) and I had to insist on the ticket which was only $35.00 back in those days.

It was on flat ground btw... I used to drag race cars between lights to work on my sprints.

Bikes: See my sig...

My partner used to be a pro racer and once got pulled over for drafting / motorpacing behind a dump truck (on the highway) at 80kmh... when the cop asked what he was doing following the dump truck he replied "he would not pull over and let me pass him".

The cop was laughing too hard to issue a ticket.

In Boulder CO, there is NCAR Road, which is a nice little climb.
Once you have reached the top, you can descend a nice sweeping curve and hit 45mph.
Then at the 1.3 mile point, it dumps you into a residential neighborhood...with a 25mph speed limit...in front of a grade school.
I've been told it is an excellent place to get a ticket.

Whatever floats your boat. For me, knowing I could exceed the limit would be enough. I don't need it to show up on my insurance rates.

We are a small 2 stoplight town of 3500. When catching a red light, bikers can grab a fun draft as cars zip up to 30-32mph. I try to hang with them as long as I can. Good for intervals at the start of a ride.

In our jurisdiction, bicycle-related infractions do not impact your motor vehicle driving record or insurance rates.

I got a speeding ticket on my bike in southern California several decades ago, when I was 18. I was actually passing cars that were obeying the speed limit, which I guess was a giveaway.....

I forgot to add: In this incident, the police officer demanded to see my driver's license. That was my most expensive ticket for 20+ years.

I can see that happening. As a rule I ride to the right of the fogline unless at an intersection where I demand motorists see me. This is probably why I wont be pulled over.

Interesting. I've not read our vehicle code in enough detail, but it's possible that by riding to the right of the fogline, you may not be in the "roadway," and subject to a citation. Hmmm. If so, that would be an oversight ... it's not like the LEOs are going to look the other way if they see an auto speeding on the shoulder at 80 MPH.

Good point. Just about all cyclists ride the line or to the right in our area.

Last year I was stopped going downhill fast, and running a (traffic clear) red light, but no ticket.

Try that as a provocation.

The officer, whom I did not see, was pretty good about it, telling me he stopped me out of concern for my safety.

Too much drag with the cape, so just the Speedo should be good.
Provide photographic evidence.

Really?

Speeding tickets cost me already over $400.
That's pretty darn expensive :-(
I could have bought a nice set of wheels instead...

If you see a pi... police officer, to ensure you are going as fast as possible, maximise your aerodynamic efficiency by raising your middle finger.

Years ago I buzzed by a cop holding a radar *** in a 20 MPH zone twice well over 25 mph. Damned carbon fiber bike must not have reflected the radar waves. However the cop did laugh as I flew by....
