I'm jazzed! N+1 'sickness' strikes again
Scored the last one in my size with this color scheme from the national distributor over the weekend, (2015 model). Just the frame. Plan to build up with Ultegra 6800.

Thanks guys. Moving to northern Idaho when I retire next summer and figure I need a gravel bike. There's some awesome trails up that way.

Are you using the Shimano Hydraulic disk set up? At the Ultegra level it would seem a shame to put a mechanical disk on that nice a frame and component build. Have a blast with building up your Pinie, it should be fun to make it your own, please keep us posted on how the build progresses.
I'm finding that wheelsets are extremely expensive. I've had very good luck with Dura Ace and Ultegra road wheelsets, so my first inclination/preference is to stick with Shimano wheels. For Shimano cross wheelsets, it looks like there is a new set available at the end of this month at the Tiagra/105 level for around $400 and an older set at the Ultegra level for about $1200. Nothing at a price point that is in between. That's strange. I'm flinching about spending so much for an Ultegra level wheelset seeing that I only paid $800 for my Dura Ace road wheelset and $400 for my Ultegra road wheelsets, (I have several sets).

Most likely will go hydraulic. That seems to be the industry trend these days. I'm concerned about maintenance. Growing up with rim brakes my whole life, taking care of them is second nature. Disc brakes are new to me and I haven't a clue about how to take care of them. Still researching them and learning about them.

Now for wheelsets, you may need to look outside of Shimano. Stan's makes some good options with their Grail wheels. The other option is custom built. I have been pricing with them Pecenti SL-25's or Stan's Grail's, White Industries hubs, and Sapim CX-Ray spokes with brass nipples for around $900. They come in at 1600-1700 grams with that build. Fortunately, more manufactures or coming on line with wheelsets as the gravel/adventure road bikes segment is growing. One word of caution, be careful on using cross specific wheelset. Many are not rated for the psi of most road tires. the only other thing to consider is if you want to go road tubeless. I have not gone there yet, but most likely will now that there seems to be a good selection of tires and rims to chose from.

Best thing I ever did for disk brake systems on our motocross bikes was getting a brake bleeding "tool". Most every auto parts store, and Sears, has them, both manual pumped and electric, not really too pricey either. Even though a bicycle's lones and the reservoir are smaller than an automobile or motorcycle, the tool makes things much easier than the hand bleeding method of pumping the brake lever and watching the air bubbles. TRP may have the right idea with their manual/hyd mixed system??? Any experience with the TRP, I think that Blazing Pedals has some work with them.
