Semper Fi, brother:thumb:, glad you found this place. Pie is just a topic that is kind of an ice breaker, we even have an annual Pie Ride Day, each September, on a Saturday, that will be posted here. Its a running joke, that got legs, back several years ago, it sticks around because most of us have a favorite pie, for after ride recovery you know. And, it just flat gets under a few curmudgeon's skin:roflmao2: when we bring it up. You'll be able to pick those characters out, easily:rolleyes:.

Hmmm, 31 Oct 75, a pretty darned good day, in my personal history line, my wife and I had our first date, that night. A free triple feature of movies at the junior college we attended, thankfully she didn't boot my cheap ass for seeing the freebies, and that first kiss was something else. After 39-1/2 years, and two great kids, it is still a thrill when I see her:love:.

Didn't get married till 88! Been with Brenda ever since. three great kids, one daughter and two sons, Both sons served as Marines as well. I did not push them into it, They both stood up after 9/11. Damn proud of them and blessed that they came home with out any missing pieces!! Some close friends of ours weren't so blessed . Matt was 1stBN PI, Brian was 2nd BN, I was 3rd BN PI. Tried to get Brenda to enlist so we would have them all covered :)

Thanks to both of your sons, that shows that you and Brenda raised them right. My son looked into serving as he neared HS graduation, then he found out he had epilepsy, so he concentrated on languages, and missions work, in Canada. He is university level linguistics instructor now. Your boys sure did you proud, and its great that they made it back from the sandbox in one piece.

I was 3Bn too, must be a baby boom generation thing at PI. What field were you in? Avionics here, air wing puke.

Some of us celebrate Pi day 'a round' March 15. No curmudgeon here, just following the more widely recognized celebration date.

Certainly fine for you, and anyone else for that matter, to use the calendar related Pi Day. However the Pie Day here is a tradition started by several of the old timers from several years ago, and carried on by some of us. Which date brings you some satisfaction is fine. A long time member, that has some serious health issues now, would post the Saturday, in September, that was to serve as a day to ride a minimum of 15 miles, and have a piece of Pie afterwards. A picture of your choice of Pie would then be posted here, for the others to ogle, and drool over. Blueberry was widely recognized as a favorite, (I'm a Key Lime Pie man, myself, mmmmm) and the source of many humorous posts about a region's blueberries and the quality of them. Some have argued for a banning of any use of a non-fruit filling in a ride's pie choice, (I say that is heresy, and none of their business, nyaaah, nyaaah, nyaaah.) We have now moved down some separate paths, some have left here, and some are in a different guise now. Such is life.....

There is a curmudgeon, that takes great pride in castigating us for mentioning Pie, or colonoscopies, or Club Tombay, etc. He may or may not give us an appearance, that matters not to many of us, at all. To each their own.

Sounds like your son is doing well. my oldest was intel in the Corps. Now a website developer on the west coast. Youngest was Air traffic Controller, now a senior at Penn State.. Your two boys, er young men, have done very well indeed. There are a of of Intel types coming to CID Corry Station, here in Pensacola now. Website development is a fast growing area, that is a great choice, with some long-term possibilities. Wow, Penn State, and Dean's List, fantastic, my wife and I taught for several years, I miss working with the kids, but not the politics that the private school we were teaching at, had. Teachers are not nearly appreciated, or paid, as much as they should be, they are trying hard to accomplish a difficult task, with little support from most folks, and their school districts, too. I hope he doesn't get disheartened, good teachers are rare, and he sounds like he will be one.

Tell them both, Semper Fi, Thanks For Their Service, and my best wishes on their futures, too.

Stood on the famed forever etched in my mind foot prints on July 20th 1976 ,3rd Bn. Both my sons did the same in 2003 and 2006. They were first and second BNs. I did 6.5 years in the Corps and sons did 5 each. Tired to get the wife to enlist so we would've had all 4 BNs covered :)
