Well, you see em dont ya?. Wi their peaked NYC hats, only. . .the peak is to the front not the back. Isuspect if there was one wi both, itd fly off the shelves. There probably is, but Ive not seen one and wouldnt like to be seen wearing one.

Visors on yer typical crash hat are too small to be called "visors" unless, of course, you have no forehead. But deteriorating vision demands the use of a decent one in some lighting conditions, particularly wi the sun in front, either on the bike or elsewhere.

Now, I wear my NYC (its not, but the same thing) under my crash hat for simply this reason.

And its cosy in cold weather. In summer, the sun rides higher most o the time, so I manages without it.

Anyone actually encountered a crash hat wi a DECENT visor attatched? Your thoughts are welcome!

I used to use clip-on sunglasses, the kind that flip-up. The helmet would keep them from flipping all the way up and hold them out at 90-degrees. That worked pretty good as a visor.

I've been using a Bell helmet with a visor for over 10 years -- I think the model is the Volt, and before that it was something essentially identical -- and I think that visor is the perfect size for what I need: Unlike every cycling cap I've ever worn or seen others wearing, it doesn't block my vision, doesn't limit my above-the-horizon proscenium...but it still keeps sunlight out of my eyes, unlike a cycling cap with its visor flipped up.

Lots of folks wear cycling caps underneath their helmets. You might try one of those with a longer bill.

I took all the visors off of my helmets.

I'm not sure what I'll do the next time I try a century and a half ride. Perhaps I should start scrounging for another helmet, or put my visors back on one helmet.

However, I determined that as I was riding on the hoods or drops, my gaze was upwards, and the visors were obscuring my vision. Helmets without visors seemed fine.

I have several helmets, all of which rock the visor. Not only sun, but they block most of the rain from my glasses, too (keep your head down, fella). Never had a problem with forward vision being obscured even on my fixed bike with old school track drops below front tire level.

I like the Bern helmets, have one for Summer, one for Winter. Beneath these I'll wear a cycling cap with the visor either at the back, or if additional shade is needed, down in front. Nice, as neither the cap or helmets interfere with my glasses mounted mirror.

See if you like the visor by using a cycling cap underneath the skidlid you use now. I couldn't have attained the reputation of neighborhood geek without my visored skidlids and loud cycling cap....have pride in weirdoship...to hell with Velominati rules...rock those visors!!
